Practice Manager | Carolyn joined as practice manager in June 2011. She has experience in NHS management and is committed to improving the practice environment, practice efficiency and developing a patient participation group (a forum for our patients to feedback on priorities within the practice) |

Assitant Manager | Susan works with the manager and deputises for her in her absence, taking particular responsibility for the efficient running of the reception services. Mrs Bardell has an important role in managing our IT and the administration of the targets set by the government. |
| Loice Wiltshire | Practice Secretary | Loice is a well experienced practice secretary who supports the practice team with referrals, arranging appointments and behind the scenes administration and liasing with the hospitals. |
| Receptionists |
We have 12 part-time reception staff who are the first members of the team that you will meet. Their function is to guide you through the practice and to arrange appointments. They often have a difficult job to do and may sometimes need to ask questions about the nature of you illness to assist the doctor in prioritising urgent appointments. Please treat them with respect. | |
| Practice Nurses | We have five experienced practice nurses who assist the doctors and advise on a variety of health matters. They perform treatments including dressings and immunisations, and give advice on travel and health promotion. They run clinics on Diabetes, Asthma, Heart Disease, Smoking Cessation etc. | |
| Phlebotomy services | For the convenience of our patients we have 2 healthcare assistants, Sheila and Francis, that take blood in here in the practice. Sheila also helps with blood pressure checks and ECGs requested by the doctors. |
Although not directly employed at the practice, we work alongside other professionals who form part of our primary healthcare team. These include:
District Nursing TeamThey are based at Dunstable Health Centre, telephone 01582 707660. The district nurse visits the practice daily for messages and to liaise with the doctors.
Health Visitors
Health Visitors are trained nurses who have specialist qualifications in child and family health. You can discuss with them any issues about the health and well being of yourself, your children and your family.
The Health Visitor can give advice on behaviour management and feeding problems. She will give support for postnatal depression and advice on many other issues.
We have a team of Health Visitors aligned with the Practice. They are based at Dunstable Health Centre; telephone 01582 707660 and are available between the hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday
The Community Midwife
In co-operation with the doctors, the community midwife provides both ante-natal and post-natal care for mother and baby at the surgery and at home.
Ante-natal appointments at the surgery are on an appointment system.
Clinical Psychology and Counselling
We have a counselling service here at the surgery 3 days a week. Please make an appointment with a doctor if you would like to be referred to this service.
Physiotherapy
We have an NHS physiotherapist based at West Street Surgery. Helen helps our patients with advice on exercise to improve conditions such as back pain and arthritis.
